rhino shredder

ive got an 8 foot wide rhino shredder. its a tw somthing model. i cant remember. i use my jd 4020 to pull it. i run the pto at 540 rpm on the 540 shaft. it doesnt do a very good job shreding. it just cuts it and throws it out the back. it looks like a windrowed it. no matter how fast or slow i drive it does this. should i adjust the back castor wheels down so it runs level? i also see on other shredders there is chains or rubber covering the back. mine doesnt have anything. it has bolt holes for somthing to be there. i'd like to get this fixed as i dont like going everything twice. thanks for any help

jhill is correct. There should be a shield across the back. You can get some old baler belt and bolt it across the back. That will help hold the grass under it to shread it more. Mine has it. It's in three pieces across the back.

matt,- some mower boxes are 1000 p.t.o. rpm. if yours is, that would make the blades spin faster.

You should have a shield across the back so the shredder recuts the material and spreads it acroos the width of the cutter.
