im thinkin about looking into buying a moisture meter for haymaking it seems like with outher electronics the prices are becoming more resonable . Seems i,m at the mercy of the weather a little more since half my life is spent away from home on the water. Is there any brands to stay away from or recomend

I use a Farmex that I purchased from our NH dealer for $150 or so. It has a moisture range from 14 to 35% and has a thermometer feature also. I am contemplating adding one to my baler, but an holding off this year.

Worked for a guy who used them all the time, finally bought one last year, reconditioned. In my area most of the hayis sold for export and buyers defnitely check it before buying. You can get them that mount on your baler and send reading to you on tractor.

Tugboat,a moisture tester can test % moisture and some give temp. of hay also.I think that temp. reading would only be helpful if at least 24 hrs. after hay was baled.Temp reading would be helpful if one was wanting to purchase hay.I have owned a Delmhearst for 12 yrs and wouldn't bale without it.There are several other brands for sale now.Tx Jim
