How do I determine whether I have a 14 inch or 16 inch plow?

RiVerbend and Leroy gave good info. I have a 44-H and it is marked with a 14-16 decal on a front frame piece and the two arms to the bottoms go out so mine is set to 16 inches. It can be measured also by laying a tape horizontally across from the left side of the front point area of the rear share (sometimes called the "lay") over to the leftside (inside) of the front bottom landside.

If the bends in the standards that go down to the share go out, it is set up for 16". If they come in, it is set up for 14".

Measure the distance of the beams that run front to back on the plow- left side of one beam to left side of the next beam.

That does NOT work on a J D 44 plow as they are an adjustable plow, small frame for 12" or 14" cut with a frame measurement like you say of 13" and a large frame for 14" or 16" cut with a frame measurement of 15". you change the front and rear shanks on the frame to change width along with reversing the furrow (Not the tail) wheel
