I am needing to get some no till coulters for a CIH 900 cyclo air 8 row narrow corn planter. Anyone know of a good place to get coulters??

New, used, looking at anything at the moment. Know of any salvage yards that may have IH 800 or 900 planters with the no till coulters on them???

I talked with Yetter mfg about coulters and they wanted more for the aftermarket coulters than I paid for the entire machine. There has got to be a better way. Any help???

What are you wanting to do with your planter. I ran a 800 and 900 unit is for sale and never used the coulters. I planted in all conditions I think. Even notilled into sod. I wouldn't waste the money. The hardest thing to do in extreme notill conditions is to get the seed trench closed. I think the spiked little closing wheels would help their,I never tried it on my unit as I quit rowcrops instead, best move I made so still have planter for sale it does have row cleaners on it thou.

Well, I have always used a no till coulter out in front of the row units to break open the dirt to allow the planter to put the seed in the correct depth. This planter just has the double openers in the front for the liquid fertilizer and that is it. I can't imagine that the row units are strong enough to run through our no till clay soils around here without haveing an opening coulter of some discription.

Most everyone around here runs coulters in the front and some have had to fill the liquid fertilizer tanks with water to get enough weight to get the coulters in the ground. We have a heavy red clay soil around here that gets really hard.

Do you have any no till coulters that will fit the planter??

Whats it like then when you get it planted and have a hard rain does it get up or is it cement too get thru. I may have will have to check another fellow I deal with he may have some used also. How many and what size wavy do you want or do you want bubble style.

Oh yes, this dirt can turn to cement in a hurry. If we plant small grain in the fall and then mow and bale it high mosture in the spring, the field will be so hard we have no choice but to rip it and work it down before planting corn.

If you work the field too fine and plant and it rains like you said, nothing will grow except a few weeds, it will be so hard.

I need 8 coulter units, 17 inch or so, size really doesnt matter that much. I have been using an 8 wave coulter disc, but those are easily replaced, I really need the mounts, hub, and coulter assembly. Some I have seen hook directly in front of the row unit and some are out front under the liquid fertilizer tanks, either is fine.

E-mail me off this address with the details if you find any.

Thanks

It doesn"t need them. I used a 800 to notil for years with no extra coulters. It would plant in harder ground than the JD I have now that has notil coulters.
