best 3 point disk to buy

My primary point is that there are a bunch of old 3 point disc harrows out there that weigh as much or more than anything made today, that can be had for a fraction of the cost. most parts can still be had and you will have a piece of equipment you will never wear out

My neighbor and I have the same HP tractors. He has bent two cheap discs (angle iron) doesn't really matter on the brand, all the cheaper ones are built similar. Also they have no weight to them to bite into the ground.

I got a good used JD tandem disk with a full set of extra blades for half the price at an auction. It is a little big for my tractor, so I just took a disc off each gang. As others said, this thing will outlast me.

I had used some quite heavy and large trailer disks during my farming days. A few years ago I needed a small disk. A neighbor suggested I use his IH 444 and 24 blade MF 3 point disk. This was a new building lot. That disk cut far better than I expected. It also made that 444 work much harder than I ever expected.

I don't know if anyone still build new versions of that MF disk. I would check that out. If you search for an older MF just be sure bearings and disk blades are good before you pay very much. A used disk is worth exactly the expected life of those items. The frame is worth scrap metal price.
