Hello again,

My neighbor with the McCormick 46 hay baler greatly appreciated your answers to his question, and now he has another one - about a Niemeyer hay tedder. It is a 2 spool tedder, that runs off his tractor. One side has a shear pin broken, and the whole thing seems to be out of adjustment. When he tries to run it, one spool hits into the other one.

His question is, what does he need to do to adjust it/reset it/ whatever? Does he need to pull the whole darn thing apart, or is there an easier way?

He has never taken a hay tedder apart, and was hoping to avoid it.

thank you again for being here,

Jan

It sounds like the tedder is out of time. Turn it over on its back so the tines are sticking up in air. Remove the spindle axle and the tine arm hub assembly. Best to have two people for this. Then you will see the gears. Look for anything broken in here. When you put the tine arm hub assembly back on make sure that you put the tines in phase. If you have any more questions please ask.

James

Thank you very much, James. I relayed this info to Jimmy, and he said it was exactly what he needed to know. He also said he wouldn't have known to turn it upside down, but would have tried to work on it from underneath like a car, and probably everything would have fallen down into this face...

Thanks again! Jan
