I have a picture of my grandpa on his "39 Allis B pulling a steel wheeled potato digger. The picture was taken in 1942.The digger may have originally been horse drawn.
The front wheels of the digger were small and the rear wheels were taller with spades on them for traction. The triangular spade was out front leading to the conveyor. There was a seat and steering wheel. The steering wheel was used to raise and lower the spade/plow.
Any help with identification, make, year and source of info would be appreciated. I could attach a copy of the picture to an email if you would like . thanks, Mark

You might try taking a look at C.H. Wendels book "Encyclopedia of American Farm implements and Antiques". There is about 10 or so diggers like the one you described. My local barnes and noble had it in stock before christmas. My email just take out the spam is [email protected]

How about posting the picture over in the implement photos. I have an old digger that looks just like the one in my neighbor's JD book, except mine says 'Oliver' on the side. It was originally horse drawn too, but it was lifted with a foot pedal.
