In my area all of the bigger farmers use an implement that is one long bar extending out past the sides of the tractor and attaches to the three point. This bar has sets of arms that extend down with round disc blades on them and each set of round disc blades are aimed toward each other. These guys use these to make rows for cotton, soybeans, etc in the spring. Anyone know what this thing is called? Is it a hipper?
Hope I've give a good enough description to help.
Thanks,
Mike

"Hipper" or "Disk Hipper" in the Delta.

Mike, We call that implement that is in Thurlow's pic.....An 8row "Disk Lister". If it had the big middlebusters on it them it is just a "8 row Lister". The process of makin rows is "Listing".
If that unit had planter boxes on it too....that would be a "Lister Planter". Hope this helps.
Later,
John A.

Mike,
We always called them hippers. Some people also call them disk listers. Pull a lot easier than traditional plow bottoms, especially in the clay type soils we have here in the coastal bend. Best brand we had was Tye. We had two of them and farmed with one for over 20 years. Good implements.

Up north here we'd call it a hiller - and use it to hill potatoes.
