How are the Hesston inline square balers? I've had enough of my dad's old NH 278. It can't go more than 300 bales with out missing and last fall the mickey mouse feed rack thing flew apart again. I told dad that's it we're parking it in the grass and getting something newer.

Neighbor swears by these inline balers. They sure look simple and easy to fix.

Also we are thinking of making more bales like around 10,000 or so. What is a economical way of putting them the shed? Right now we just use wagons but find it hard to get helpers. Also how much are people getting for horse hay in the yard?

Smithfields;
I used a CaseIH 8520 (made by Hesston)last year and I was very impressed with it. Much faster and more consistant than my 268NH. I was never much of a IH fan, especially when it came to their balers, I had a very bad 420, but I can't say enough about the 8520 and how easy it is to use. Straddling the windrow takes a bit of getting use to though. We do around 4000 bales a year. I Think "Tim NJ" bought a Hesston back a few years to replace a JD baler. Good luck, Roy

A coworker of mine has a CaseIH inline baler and hates it because it makes his back hurt turning around so far to keep an eye on it. I personally have no experience with them, just passing along what I've been told. Maybe you can talk your neighbor into letting you bale for him for a day to find out if you like it or not.
