looking for a new hay mower. what do you think of drum mowers? do they hold up? do they do a good job? thanks for any reply

They do tend to wind long grass on the drum. Not considered to be as desirable as disc mowers around here (western Washington), where first cutting tends to get a little rank before the rain stops in mid to late June.

The CCM drum mowers have side knives on the drums to keep hay from winding on the drums. If these knives are worn out then the winding starts to happen but for less than $5.00 you can purchase 4 knives that will last another 5-10 years.
