OK I have a 14t baler that worked great first year i had it, last couple years knots have been more like a bow knot have switched twine size thicker twine works better but still there, with thin twine knots pull apart, knots lose not enough tension. have replaced rollers, knives checked all gears and set up knotters tension to mannul. what should i check next? thanks

Smaller twine (diameter) or larger number of feet per bale, i.e. 9000 vs 7200 may require different billhooks (multi-twine). Typically 9000 sisal will work with regular billhooks. Plastic twine almost always requires multi-twine billhooks. Don't try to modify regular billhooks as the geometry is all messed up, if you do.

Make sure the wiper arm knife is sharp and check its travel per the OM. Also the force to move the wiper arm across the billhook to wipe off the knot.

Are there any old guys around that ran binders. A lot of those old guys know a whole bunch about knotters!!!

As I recall, Dad said that certain edges have to be sharp; that they won't grip the twine if they get worn too smooth.

Again, try to find an old binder guy and ask him.

Can't remember what they are called but its probably the little fingers that grab the twine. It would be nice if you where close to me I have one for sale for parts

I had a 214T and replaced the bill hooks with the ones that are made to handle plastic twine and I remember it being an easy switch.
