Some people call them mid busters or furrors.I was reading a magazine and it said you could use these to dig potatoes with.I was wondering if this is true, and if it is would it cut the potatoes.

The subsoiler is just that, 2" wide crack in ground and will not work with the potatoes but a middle buster will as it has a wide shovel that looks like a left and right hand plow bottom forged together. we used to use a shovel similuar to a middle buster but older, of of a single shovel horse drawn walking plow, made attachment to use shovel with Ford tractor 3 pt. hitch, to harvest taters with and after first picking up used a spring tooth harrow to bring up burried taters, pick up and repeat 3 - 4 times till no more would show up,

they make a set of wings that bolts on each side of point this lifts taters out of ground.

Yes you can use a middlebuster to dig potatoes, and no they dostly won't cut them. You'll wind up with a few cut ones, but then I always cut a few when I used to harvest by hand, too.

Just set it to dig as deep as it can, and it will lift the 'taters. It leaves most on the surface, and some very near the surface so you can get 'em by hand.
