I am looking to buy a tiller around 62 inch wide.

Any recomendations as far as what I should get, expected cost?

I will likely use this to till several areas adding up to a little over 1 acre.

For an acre or so you do not need to get very expensive. Howard Rotavators are the top-of-the-line but cost accordingly. Caroni, John Deere, and others make lighter-duty units that cost a little more reasonably. If you find a used one be prepared to change out the tines and make sure the gearbox and tineshaft bearings and drive mechanism are not shot. Also check the tineshaft for warping as that will chew the end bearings up in a hurry.

Depending on soil composition you will need between 5 and up to 10 pto hp per foot of tiller for heavier duty units with deeper cut. It is always better to have more tractor than needed than more tiller than the tractor can handle.
