I built one that seems to function ok...with some limitations. I took an 8' piece of 4" S&D PVC, capped both ends, cut it in half and placed a Tee in the center...then added about a 1' piece extending upward to the Tee and that is where I add my roundup. I had a hard time finding something that would work for the wick...but eventually found about 1/2"cording (at Hobby Lobby I believe). I was not familiar with cording before I ran across it...but in case you are not also, it is the stuff they use for the edges of pillows, furniture etc. and they sew it inside the edges of the fabric. Anyways, it has cotton or something that is absorbant inside a fine mesh netting that keeps it cylindrical. I then drilled holes quite a bit smaller than the cording along the bottom of the PVC. You may want to experiment with hole size. Then I took the cording and using a small screwdriver, carefully stuffed it in the holes. I put the first 2 holes 10-12" apart, then skilled about 4" then made 2 more holes the same distance apart. This left a gap between where the cording was strung. I then drilled holes and placed cording to span this gap. Kind of hard to explain, but for most of the PVC, there is double strands of cording.

The hard part is to devise some way of mounting it to your 4 wheeler or golf cart (that is what I use) that allows you to adjust the height and keep it level side to side.

I use mine to attempt to kill what we call here in N. Texas 'Water Grass.' Don't really know it's real name, it is similar to Johnson grass but has a really sticky seed and it comes into my coastal field in the irrigation canal. The first year I had no luck as I diluted the roundup too much. The second year I used round up 1 to 1 with water, and had success killing the tops...but apparently not the roots as it came back next cutting. Maybe I did not allow it to stand long enough to get all the way to the roots before I cut it...I will try again this year.

I unmasked my email...so I can take pictures for you if you like...just send me an email. It was inexpensive..compared to a comercial one that was over $200...you could even seal it to add air pressure like the commercial ones.

Good Luck
Tim
