I seen pictures of some "c" shaped spring style bearing hangers on a Sunflower disc. Has anyone had experience with these. I need to rebuild a disk pretty soon and wouldn't mind using a system like this for the bearing supports. Is there any aftermarket replacement "c" hanger arms available anywhere? bjr23

bjr23, I just finished rebuilding a 10ft. I.H. model 37 disc. and a 14 ft. Krause model 408. Both are vintage, but well built and usable for my small operation. I did the calling/searching/dealership thing. Even went to the Krause people in Kansas about the 14 ft. disc. I ended up buying everything except disc blades and bearings locally and not from a dealership. I found some hardware at "Fastenal" They have a lot of stuff. My new blades...well I got lucky there, a man gave me some he had stored in his machine shed for years. They were great! But the bearings...that was a surprise. I called Krause, they were very informative...even sent me a manual and parts book on the disc, and sent me a blueprint just in case I needed something machined for it. Great service there! The Krause factory wanted $69.00 per bearing for this disc...there are eight of them. I bought them at "Shoup Manufacuring Co. in Kankakee, IL. 1-800-627-6137 or www.shoupparts.com The bearings were $23.00 each. I did have to do a little research in the catalog as to axle size and prelubed bearing versus greaseable bearings etc. Give them a try...maybe you'll get lucky like I did. I placed a order on tuesday morning and the UPS truck brought them down the lane on Thursday. Enjoy and have a good day. Deamer1
