If you saw a field that had been cut by a rotary mower that appeared to be left in windrows and not laid flat like a sickle mower, my guess would be it had been cut by a drum mower.

I've used one quite a bit. The one I used has a 3-pt (2 pt) hitch so that you can set it, kind of, to "skip" over rocks. Also it has flails instead of rollers. They are cheaper than others and mow very well. The only problem so far that someone hit something pretty hard and snapped the cutter/disc housing in half. Expensive repair but we did it ourselves in an afternoon. My only complaint, I learned to mow hay with a center pivot haybine, I hate going clockwise all the time.

We have been a Vermeer dealer for 30 years and about 5-7 years ago we got discussed with the Vermeer disc mowers. We went and looked at all the mowers and decided to start selling the Krone. We have been very pleased with it. It does not have an intershoe to drag hay under the gear box, there are no V-belts. The power is transmitted through the cutter through 10 inch gears and the smaller cutting discs are offset from thoose. The compnay really stands behind there product. We have had them replace parts on a mower that was 2 years old.
Sorry for the long post I hoped it helped. In short great mowers.

What in Krone's design makes it lay hay flatter than other brands?I like it flatter because I think it would aid drying.I mostly cut bermudagrass. Thanks,Tx Jim

By being a 1 piece cutter bar and using gears the cutter bar is thinner than the shaft driven types. I have never heard that it lays the hay flatter but that is the reason that comes to my mind.
