Old steel wheel wagon

Hi there. I"m new to your board and this seems like the place for me to find some answers/suggestions to a few questions. I have found what appears to be a very old steel wheel wagon on my place and I"m interested in restoring it. I"m not sure when it was made but I"ve been able to get the manufacturer"s name off of the wheels. They were made by Bettendorf Steel Wheel Co. The wagon is in such bad shape, except for the iron straps and braces, that i"m having a hard time figuring out where all the pieces go. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can find some information/pictures of these old wagons that are put together? I would really be interested in seeing any pictures of the running gear of these old wagons. Any help anyone could provide would be appreciated. The wagon came with the farm, which was purchased by my grandfather over 40 years ago. Seems like a good thing to try and resurrect if possible. Thanks for your time

Is there any wood at all left that you could possibly take pictures or measurements of? The steel parts with good close up pictures we might be able to guide you thru a rebuilding, I have some with no name that I someday hope to rebuild and several of the wagons I have are the wood wagons, I will open my email if you want to contact me. What you describe sounds like an old horse wagon that when the wood wheels get bad there were steel replacements put on, or the wheels were cut down and a steel rim with an auto tire was put on, I"ve seen a number of both in my area. I would think it would be hard to rebuild a wagon without the proper tools materials and skills as they are a work of art I think. I had local Amish rebuild wood wheels for my wagon. Is there an agriculture museum near; most I've seen have an old wagon..... .either restored or original..... .that you could look at and take some measurements from..... ...an internet search will turn up a lot of pictures, but don't know how detailed they'll be.

Thanks for the link. The wagon i"ve got looks to be a general utility wagon. There was a box that was for sale on the link you posted that looks very similar to the one that was on this wagon. Also, thanks for the ag museum idea. I"m not sure if there are any around but i"ll check it out.
