I have an IH 800 planter I need to know what the sprocket that I need to use for popluation at 28000 seed per acre or a manual to buy. Thank Jon.

On the 800 and 900 there was usually a seed chart sticker on the back side or sometimes on the end of the seed tank,I take yu don't have that either. I have 900 info or just ask a dealer for book

Three items I _must_ have a manual for are a planter, a baler, & a combine. Way too many things a person needs to know.

Go to Case & get thee a manual. :)

The seed spacing for 28000 ppa on 30 inch rows is 7 1/2 inches. Best to find a manual- you'll need it for much more than plant population. Planting is the most important job you do in the year, and you get only one chance to do it right.

Jon,

Darnit! I wish I could remember, but it has been so long ago. I want to say something like 9/15 or maybe 11/15?

If push comes right up against shove, stick 'er in the ground next spring and play with those sprokets til you get your spacing right. Should be what? 5" or 6" on a 30" row spacing?

I always tried to get a population of around 33 to 36K per acre and it seems to me that the plants were coming in at right around 4 1/2 to 5 1/2" apart. I just cannot remember.

Darn! I hate getting old!
