Help with sickle mower ID

Hi all , I bought this mower last summer and still don't know what it is . I don't know how to post pictures on this forum so I put them in the implement photo gallery to the left under the headings of unknown , unknown #2 and a different angle #3 from Randy-IA . The pictures aren't the best because I took them with my cell phone . The only camera I have . Any help on this ? Thanks -Randy

Hi , Yeah ,sorry about the bad pictures , It's the best I can do right now . I'll try again on a sunnier day . The thing is a three point mount , The metal going up on the left in first photo above the pulley is a tunnel that shrouds the pto shaft and acts as the third point attachment . The cable goes to a bracket under the left lifting arm so when the unit is raised the sickle bar is raised up to about a 45 degree angle , it is belt driven , with a eccentric shaft like a driveshaft that moves a connecting link to the sickle head , called a wobble box on combines and haybines I guess but this one is exposed . The big main tube has a spring in it to return the cutter in the event of a breakaway . It has some casting numbers on it but I don't have them right now and it's under a foot of snow . The unit will operate in the transport position like in the picture and I don't know how far below level it can go , but it looks like a lot . You can see in the different angle photo that there's a chain bolted in the center that I thought was to keep it from swinging to far around if an obstuction was encountered , the pivit point is the big pin in the front of the photo at the end of that welded bracket . The only thing missing that I can see is the belt guard . It works but I haven't actually cut anything with it since I got it to late in the summer and my tractor was already broken . It's a category 1 hitch . That's about it for now till I can get to it to uncover it . Thanks for the replies so far . I'm looking forward to next spring - hopefully I'll be able to cut hay and bale it myself ! Am I weird ? Looking forward to MORE work ?!?! Have a great week! -Randy

I am afraid I can't help you but with that aditional information possobly someone else will jump in and help. Can't tell from pictures is a rear mount or side mount, or if it is even a semi mount or trailer mower, we need a lot more information to go on.

Randy, It doesn't really look like an MF 31 or 41 Dynabalance, at least to me(I've been wrong before;-). Maybe an older Ferguson? or...?
