Mow grass with Gator

Hi folks,

I'm just wondering if anyone has tried using a john deere gator to mow grass. I've noticed the self driven mowers that pull behind an ATV. Which would likely work fine with a Gator.

But I need to mow real close around rows and rows of small seedlings I am and will be planting.

What I'm curious about is if one of these mowers could be mounted to the front of a gator and pushed.

Anyone tried this?

Thanks,
NutMan

Have a couple Swisher tow models(TSC),pull with a front mtg.Looking at them(& trying to dream up new ideas)got a couple.I'm thinking turning's the problem.Either a long hitch over the mower so it's actually being pulled, not pushed, that way it can turn normal, not slide.Or make it like a regular front mtg,put caster wheels front and back and push it,then its solid & you can steer it & back up.Maybe look at a 3pt finish mower to get an idea, the tire issue will make sense.Having a frt mtg,it's a nice way to go,I think.Work up some brackets and go for it.

I use a 6X4 gator with a pull behind MOTT mower (hammer knife mower, 8 horse engine) that works well on tree farm.

A local fertilizer company uses a Gator and self-powered pull behind mower. I believe the mower is from TSC and is a 60" cut. It can be pulled directly behind or hitch can be offset to one side for closer mowing.

I guess your choice was mower or gator and now your selection has came back to haunt you....
Oh well I'd probably done the same thing....

BobMo,

Oh, I love my gator. Handiest thing yet, well, except for a skid steer. Can't begin to estimate the steps it has saved me. Just don't want to invest in another machine if I can use it to mow...and still have the bed to pickup / carry things.

Best,
NutMan

Design and bracket and go for it. I think it would work. I would try it with a regular push mower first to prove out the idea before spending a lot of money.

James,

Not sure what you mean by "push mower". If it doesn't work I can always pull it the way it's supposed to work. Sure would be nice to hace it up front though.

Thanks,
NutMan

Push mower like the one you buy at lowes and home depot for your yard. gang a couple together on a bracket and attach to the front of the gator and try it out, won't look pretty but it might work.
