I have a bush hog 15 ft batwing that one side does not come down without pulling it down with another tractor. The mower is just like new and has sat for sometime with the wings up. I suspect that the hinge pin is rusted. I plan to pull the pin and have found that it is very stuck. Any ideas?

Be sure the wing driveshaft telescopes! in reply to DMont, 01-11-2005 15:11:16
Or you will be buying expensive parts.

Thanks for the idea. Yes, I agree that will probably work over a soaking period. I was also going to take the loader and lift the front of the mower to give the penetrate a better angle of entry. I don't suppose these mowers had a problem "designed in".

I've had one for 4 years or so and never had this problem. Couple of my neighbors have them too. I asked yesterday at keystone time :-) about it and none of them had seen it.

Was it mine, I'd mix up some diesel fuel and waste oil in a sprayer or gallon jug. Soak it good, with the mower on a slight incline. Work the wing back and forth until it frees up. Once it frees up I wouldnt worry about pulling the pin.
