I Have been on the CCM web page and I have noticed they have the Discmower dolly for around 2 grand. I can get a 3 PT disc mower here that is refurbished for $2900. The 2 together would run me around 5 grand. I think I could pull this with my farmall 400 gas that is turning 60 horses at the PTO(M&W pistons) But if the discbine would make a 400 want to tip why wouldn't it turn over the dolly on a hillside? I thought about a drum mower but with the tricycle front end I am wondering if it would be safe on hillsides. I also thought about a disbine but I have been told that the 60 horses would be over worked. Any Ideas? Would a small Discbine be OK at slow speeds. But then again 5 Grand would probably not touch it. Thanks In Advance Moose

Thanks all , I am not for sure what I am going to buy but I need something. The old 460 newholland is just not cutting the mustard. The new Vermeer trail mower looks good but the cost is one thing holding me back. I would rather go with a discbine and buy the new tractor to go with it. I had a chance to buy a duetz 100 06 for 4000 and a disc bine 1 year old for 10000. But that is a lot of money and I would like to keep the cost down. Moose

The disc mower caddy is made by Pyramid and basically very similar to the KMC caddy.
The new Vermeer pull type disc mower is nice but also has a nice price above $10,000. You can use the caddy again and again if you trade disc mowers and the pull type unit can not be reused it would have to be overhauled and you still would have a used unit.
You will have enough HP to pull a 9" mower easy with the caddy. Also realize that some Kuhn and Krone models need the extra Hydraulic kit and the cost is $350. This is because of the way their 3 point hitches are made.

Hay Dr,
Good point below on using the same caddy over again.
I only saw that new mower Vermeer has out a couple of days ago on the net and didn't have any idea it cost over 10k.
Take care,
Mike

Before you go out and buy a dolly look into the new Vermeer trailed mowers. It is a pin hitch disc mower no conditioner. It can cut directly behind the tractor or to the side. I have heard of the dolly systems turning over, this one will not. Just check it out before you buy.

HY Moose,I have never seen the CCM dolly, but have been pulling a NH 3pt disk cutter on a dolly for several yrs.I would never go back to straight 3pt.The dolly follows ground better, makes turning corners easier and much easier to attach to tractor but you need 2 sets of remote hyds.I haven't cut on hilly areas but it is very stable when in transport position.Tx Jim
