I"m looking to purchase a 3 point post hole digger. I prefer to purchase a good used one, as I will not be using it very much. If anyone lives in lower Michigan and is looking to sell, let me know.

Thanks, Gene

I've bought a couple of used ones over the years, and they always seem to have problems. With used discs, plows, etc., you can see what you're getting; used post auger has all the goodies (and gremlins) hidden inside the casing. With the slight difference in price between new and used, I bought a new one this summer instead of taking on yet another headache.

Around here the price of a clean used post hole digger is very near the price of a new one with warrenty. If you can find a hydraulicaly driven post hole auger. You will never go back to a pto drive. Not replacing shear pins on rocks, ability to vary speed. And the ability to back out from under a rock.

Seems like there is one of these at almost every farm auction I go to...and by a stroke of luck, these are starting to fire up next week. Get out the carharts and head to the auctions, my friend.

You are right. However, I have been going to auctions and looking at fliers, and haven"t seen a single one this winter. If I wasn"t looking, they would be all over the place. Thanks Gene

That's always how it works, isn't it!!!! :)

The operator of this web site prefers we keep ads like yours to the classified section - it's some fine print at the top of many pages, no ads on the forums. No big deal, just mentioning it for the future. Things get a little gummed up if everyone across the globe tries to put 'local' wanted & for sale items on such a broad-based web discussion forum.

Good luck in your search. I suspect no one is selling right now because it is out of season. Will get a lot more offers & interest if one tries to sell one in spring, so everyone is keeping theirs in the shed for now...
