I bought a 477 NH haybine and used it this summer which I was well please with my investment. My drive belt that runs the wobble hub needs to be replaced before spring. I did not get a owners/repair manual with my purchase and now I am in a situation where I need some help from someone that has been down this road. I have pulled the wobble hub to get to the pulley on that end which wasn"t a problem. Trying to figure out how and what to remove on the gear box is my big problem. Do I have to remove the gears from inside the box then slide the whole box from the shaft? I need the procedure, hows, and "watch-out-fors" to do this repair(or a copy of the repair manual that tells out to do this replacement). Sure seems like a lot of work just to replace a belt!! Your help appreciated!!

I replaced a belt on one this summer took less than thirty minutes. If you dont have it already fixed let me know and I will give you my phone # and explain how to do it. David

Actually, it is less than $15 in reply to Hiram, 12-31-2004 16:48:21
42047713 is the part number for the 477 operator's manual. There is no service manual for that machine; what you need is in the op manual. See your NH dealer, or call 800-635-4913 with a credit card handy.

Mike is correct in all statements. Before you try tackling these things get a manual. I don't see how you can operate and make correct settings without one. How do you know when & where to lube? That aside as he says look behind the wobble for the mounting bolts. You also should not have to pull the wheel to change the belts which is what I understand you want to do. You should be able to back off the belt adjustment enough to accomplish what you want after lossening the mounting. Make sure when you replace the mounting bolts behind the wobble you get tightened to spec. or you may create other problems. Good luck.....

I"d try and get an operators manual from New holland, it"s about 20 or 30 bucks and it would be well spent. It took me about 3 hours with a manual never having done one before. I remember I had to mark the chain and sprockets so the rolls don"t go out of time and when you pull the gear box you don"t pull the bearing off the end of the shaft, you remove the 3(I think) inner bolts and loosen only the 4 outer bolts on the inboard bearing shaft flange which is accessible by crawling up through the swathgate. Maybe somebody knows an easier way.Good luck I hope this helps. Mike
