I paid $50 for my farmhand bale sled and it looks it, rough shape but it works. I had a car window opener on it for a while when my shoulder was bothering me pulling the rope. I am/was in the metal fab business and thought about building some but I don't think there would be enough demand. Also would have to be made knock-down to ship. Where are you?

The Farmhand ones that I have seen in magazines some 20 years ago were the two wheeled caster type that were all hydraulic and then went with the loader attachment - I live in SE South Dakota - never seen ANY accumulator being used or for sale - of course everyone around here round bales - no time - no labor - a few square bale a little straw once in a while - and I live 1/2 hour away from the hay capital of the country - but down there everyone is using large squares for trucking purposes - I just like the idea of a simple way to gather a few bales - the sliding on pipes seems better than the sliding on the ground type deal

I did search on here for other info and apparently up in the NE somewhere (Maine. New York somewhere) some place firesup and builds a few every year - but i would just like to see the one with the trip endgate and thought it would be a good way to put bales together to ease in picking them up

The bales slide on the ground on 1/2" rods on mine. I have no idea how old it is...30-50 years? It doesn't seem to hurt the bales but you can tell they've been dragged. It's a real simple rig. The most complicated part is the latch on the tailgate. I have to load it onto the truck or trailer if I'm taking over the road any distance, but I can do it alone if I have to. Basically it saves having a truckdriver to stop for scattered bales.
