Has anyone on here owened a Bush Hog sq600? If so how does it hold up? Does it cut clean? I have heard the Bush Hogs gear boxes are prone to go out easily. I am also looking at the Woods BB 60,and also the Land Pride. Jush wont a cutter that will last and run super smooth.

All the major Manufactures purchase gearboxes from the same MFG"s: Omni,ITG,Comer, & BONDIOLI & PAVESI. It all comes down to just how much quality a MFG wants to put into a unit. The round back design now common was first used by Rhino. Take the BH-SQ600 it has a 65 HP Gearbox and weighs 522 Lbs. The Rhino SE-5 has a 65 HP gearbox and weighs 762 LBS Where is the BEEF it sure is not in the Bush Hog SQ-600. The hitch and a heavier blade carrier on the Rhino is the difference in the weight.

Heavier isn't always better. If you doubt that go ask a Bushwhacker owner. Heaviest, biggest piece of junk on the market. I read pretty good reviews of Rhino, but don't see many.

all rotary cutters are going to vibrate some. that just the nature of the beast. the inertia of the cutter running generates the vibration. try adjusting the side links to zero play on each side and that will elimanate most of the vibration. as far a brand goes, they are all made about the same, except for differences in metal thickness. i have a Bush Hog SQ60 behind my JD compact tractor for the last 8 years and it does vibrate some, but for the most part the cutter has performed well. of course, keeping the blades sharp and balanced helps a lot also and cleaning dried grass from under the deck also reduces the chance of vibration.

Nothing wrong with the SQ600 gearboxes. The problem boxes I know of were used on some earlier BH and Landpride models. They had a round sheetmetal rear cover retained by a large snap ring. Those boxes are junk. The current BH box is a bolt on direct replacement for it. I didn't respond to your earlier question in regards to the Woods BB60; I have little experience with them.

Thanks Rick, I was thinking that Bush Hog made good equipment, I have a King Kutter now but it vibrates just a tad bit, nothing really bad, I have been wonting a Bush Hog brand for awhile now though. Im not sure how long the King Kutter will last me, all I cut is field grass with it, nothing but grass, but its 48 acres of it, with a 30 hp tractor.
