Does anyone know anything about Mora Rotary Rakes? They're sold by Agri-Supply Company in North Carolina. The price is lower than used rakes in this area (Central Pennsylvania), but that makes me wonder about depenability.

We have a Morra hay tedder and have used it three seasons now and have had very good luck with it. I have had some problems with the tires wearing out and the rims cracking in the centers, Agri-supply fixed the problem the first time, and I had to buy some parts from them the second time. Both times the parts were on my doorstep in two days and exactly what I needed.

It is not the heaviest built tedder on the market, but for the price I thought it was very good. I do run it with a smaller tractor (the ZAU) so as not to tear the tedder up or be tempted to drive too fast down the highway with its small tires. I imagine that tedder covers over 100 acres of hilly hay ground a year and I have yet to break anything other than the wheels.

I think it is a decent tedder for the money, I would buy another one when this one dies and still be further ahead than buying one twice the price.

Just my 2 cents.

It all depends on the type of operator you are. If you are a good operator and take GREAT care of your equipment you could probably get by with a Morra. However if you cover a lot of acres and take only good care of your equipment then I would stay away from it. Agri-Supply is more like a Wal-Mart than a regulat Ag dealership. Rarely is anything made in the USA and you probably won't ever talk to the same person twice. Also parts might be an issue if you are in PA.

80% of all the hay raking and disc mower technology came from Europe. It is understandable thes items would come from where they were first designed because of the patents lasting 17 years.

They are just as dependable as any of the other Italian rotary rakes. For Alfalfa these rakes are a dream because the make a fluffy windrow. The Kuhn, Claas, & Krone rotary rakes are overpriced.

Is there any difference at all in this equipment? Does it all come from the same factory, or arethe rake teeth made to different standards? I got one of your rakes, & I see 6 other brands all look exactly the same. Was at an auction, Sitrex rake brought $800 used - everyone thought that was a deal, they go for $1200 new. For a 4 wheel. Your 5 wheel has the exact same blueprint - I know, I looked the used one over close, parts would totally interchange - but i got yours shipped for 3/5 the price new....

Are they made from the same blueprint but to different grades, or all from the same factory & only difference is the sticker?

Same with the cone seed/ fert spreaders, I see Cosmo, Worksaver, and others _exactly_ the same, look & design, but very different price points.

I don't have a good grasp on the stuff from southern & eastern Europe yet, on how that works, how they compare.

Got the Japan/ Korea/ Hong Kong/ China stuff figured out, about in that order..... . ;)

I know I put you in a difficult position as a retailer of some, but if you can shed any experience on it....

Paul,
There is good stuff and lesser quality implements are coming from every country. I know Morra and where their components come from. Realize this is the same people that make Landini, McCormick, & Leverda combines. Basically Agri-Supply is selling products wholesale to the public. The line between retailers and wholesalers has been blurred with the advent of the internet.
