International Model 540 4-bottom plow

I am goiong to purchase this model of a plow from an indivdual, I was wondering what the approx. weight of this is? Can I haul it in the back of a pickup 3/4 ton 8-ft. box? Or am I crazy? 4-bottom model 540 international. Thank You in advance !!!

As the others say, it's the shape more than the weight. Going to be real hard & awkward on your box. Also it will not fit in the box, and a lot of weight sticking out the end. Steering the pickup might become interesting.

Takes a good loader to lift it that high too, you'll be surprised at how much it weighs....

I got a 4-18 IHC 720 with a 16' car trailer (more plow than you have, I know) and the guy loading it scratched his head, if I had enough trailer for it. He could only barely lift it, I had to back the trailer under it.

Scott t; I also have one of those wanting to get rid of. Anyway do what the one suggested stick it on a trailer,end of discussion. Happy Holidays

WHEN I BOUGHT MINE I HAD TO HAUL IT ON A 16' TRAILER. WOULD NOT COME CLOSE TO FITTING ON A PICK UP. THE WIEGHT OF THE PLOW IS A LITTLE MORE THAN YOU WOULD THINK!

I agre with Hugh. My Deere 666 4x14 trailer plow is 12 feet long with the hitch tipped straight up.

scott. That 4 bottom plow will be quite long for a pickup box. I'm thinking complete with hitch and tail wheel close to 12 feet. That alone wouldn't be too bad, but the shape of a semi moung steerable plow, it will do a number on your pickup box. If you have a loader at both loading and unloading you may be able to put it in pickup by turning it upside down.

I'd say unless the pickup is a beater, go rent a 14 to 16 foot trailer.
