 Hey, guys -- I have a chance to buy an old grain mill, the kind with horizontal millstones. It has a cast iron frame (48" tall x 42" wide overall), 30" millstones, and an 18" diameter pulley that's 9 1/2" wide. Has lettering cast into it showing patented manufacturer as "B.W. Leonard, Bridgeport CT." As for its usefulness, well, that's another matter... Would be restored to serve mostly as a display-type item to be run off the belt pulley on my 1926 Fordson. Biggest problem in getting it is the distance involved -- it's about 4 hours away, in Connecticut (I live in Maine). OK, I'll cut to the chase (finally!): What should I offer this guy? I'm not looking to scr*w anybody, but I have to figure considerable transportation costs into the bottom line.
What do you think is equitable, just and fair? (And yes, I do recall my grandfather telling me that "It's not what it's worth, it's what it'll fetch!") Thanks in advance for any and all advice you have to offer on this venerable piece of "old iron." Maine Fordson
