What is the typical shop cost to rebuild a 1 way cylinder 24" long with 1.25" bore? It looks to have non standard ends so a simple off the shelf replacement would not be the first option.

Just last week paid $118.38 to ***** Hydraulics in s.w.PA to repack or whatever a very leaky 2-way cylinder on my 2250 IH loader. That was without tax.

I jacked up the second bucket today to see if the cylinders were stuck. It's a two stage one way cylinder! That accounts for the double rings of bolts. The botton has a welded spacer to the housing. Rod end has a T style fitting. There is a lot of rust from years of non use.

Thanks for all the tips I'll start checking sources.

Usually about half of list price of new is what the rebuild costs. But you may want to really look at a new cylinder in the grainger or Norhern tool catalog.

My experience is that somewhere betwen $75 and $100 does a simple cylinder rebuild including the seal kit at the local fluid power shop. More on the $250-$400 range it they have to replace the rod/piston/etc.

I did the 2 cylinders on my loader for about 40 bucks this spring. They"re 1 1/2" bore single acting cylinders too. Good luck

I've paid as low as $25 for simply replacing O-rings, and been quoted a price twice the price of a new cylinder for grinding the piston rod down to the bottom of the pits, replating and then grinding back to size. I was charged $25 for the quote (they took the old cylinder apart) that was about $450.

A 1.25" bore cylinder is uncommon. But O-rings come in a wide variety of sizes.

Baum Hydraulics at Omaha has a wide variety of cylinder parts and seals Link
They>Link have a line of assemble your own cylinders with assorted end fittings to be welded on in the field.
