International 440 Baler Value??

Our family owns a Model 440 baler. Bought new and used very little. Has had only 5-6,000 blaes through it. Has not been used in 8 years. Always shedded. Has extra tire and parts. Want to sell it. We think it is worth about $2,500. Have an offer for $1,400. Any input into these prices? Thanks

I bought a baler like that last year at an auction sale that had manual tension. Paid $205 for it. Would really like to have one that has hydraulic tension on the bale chamber. Also know of one that sold 2 years ago for $800. This is in Montana.

It would depend on where you are located ,it would help if there is a decent demand for square balers in general , but unfortunately IH square balers are not the most popular . If it had a thrower it might be worth $15-1600 if its as nice as you say, $9-1100 with out one.(upstate NY). For average used condition ,knock off another $5-600.You might do a little better in spring - closer to Haying time.Hope this helps

Usually I see that $1,500 is the top of what is paid. It sounds like you have a very nice one with little use, but it may be hard to get $2,500, even if worth it.

If it were where I live, $1400 is double what they normally sell for. IH balers don"t have a good reputation around here, even though they can be made to do a good job.
