i am looking for a chipper as we are clearing tree lines and it is so much easier to chip it and blow it inot a wagon rather than rustle with brtush. i have plenty of tractors with plenty of power and 3 point hitches. does anyone have plans that are available to make one at home. got steel, and a welder and torch and plasma cutter, all i should need is pto shaft and the chipping wheel. does anyone have plans for one. been looking at some ex utlity companies chippers big and abused but cheap. i need one to handle decent sizes not logs but 3 inches. my friend said dr chppers have a 1 year satisfaction guarentee and i should just buy it use it for the winter while im trimming the lines and then send it back for a full rufund. while researching thier website i foudn this true they even pay freight it jsut dont seem right though. i personally like the idea of trimming fence lines with a bulldozer(joking) but thats not possible and cutting whole trees down and pushing them into the field to burn is not possible either. so any suggestions would be a ppreciated. dont imagine would be too hard of a project if had dimensions to make chute etc.

Tomorrow I'm planning on hooking onto our old Fox chopper, and running some brush through it. Works good and will swallow xmas trees if you want. If you can find an old chopper for cheap, you can build yourself a chute and maybe a saftey device, and use it to do all sorts of things. We run about 80 HP on it with plenty to spare. Just one more idea....

I got an old Papec 151D at auction for $12 (with 5 sets extra knives), and with a feeder added it would definitely chip 3" branches . . . but it"s in too good of shape, so I"m going to fill silo with it!

I'll admit, it's hard on the knives and they won't be much god for silage any more, but we use our newer Fox 3000 for that. Previous owner's used it to chip brush, rigged up a bar above the feeder housing that went back to the gear box on the chopper to reverse it as a last line of defense. It has carbide knives though and they set the shear bar back. We just set up the shear bar again and it works great. Donovan from Wisconsin
