Is there an area of the country where these units were commonly used? I would be interested in any pros or cons of the system.

I saw my first one at an auction this summer. The group of older gentlemen standing around it mentioned how it took a lot of power to get a little feed in a day.... This is in southern Minnesota. Most thought it was a picker/sheller at first glance.

You can swing a cat by the tail and hit 10 of them. I knew Richards bunch and Everett & Jeromes farm and Martin the machinist were all close by. Edmunds daughter Rosie.

Rosie is a first cousin. Her mom just passed away 2-3 weeks ago.

My mom was one of the 16, so some roots over there. :)

Stitzel"s in Hamburg, PA occassionally finds a 318 grinder attachment and puts it on the lot. I only ever saw one in these parts. It was more popular with the dairy farmers who did high-moisture ear corn to use a regular picker and a grinder-blower at the silo. Then the trend shifted to using a chopper with a snapper head on it. Then the trend shifted to sell the cows and build houses . . . .
