I have a 7160 Hesston forage harvester - it has several like that -

they are called gib keys in the manual - u are supposed to put the gear or pulley on the shaft - at the right alignment - then lightly tap the tapered gib key to hold it all in place.....

the manual says this is the procedure to get it off - grab hold of the key with a vise grip or something - tap the gear or pulley further on the shaft while keeping the key held ....this will loosen the key - then take the key out - then you can remove the gear or pulley -

I just had to do one a week or so ago - had a giant gear puller on it for several days - nothing - finally took a drill and drilled a hole through where the key was supposed to go - since nothing was sticking out to grabon to - it drilled fairly easily - then the puller took it right off - back in business again
