Hey I am just doing a winter service on my NH 276 baler and have noticed that the knotter chain and the pickup chain on each side are quiet worn in fact they still have the oringnal NH red paint on them. So i have decided to replace them my question is should I be replacing the sprockets as well? Will the chains wear out alot faster if i dont do this? This would probably be a very expensive exercise as im guessing they would have to be genuine NH parts. I have a manual for it but some of the pictures vary from my baler so I think mine must be an English built machine? Thanks Andy

Andy, your baler is definately red, white, and blue. Built right here in good old New Holland, Pa. There is no need to replace sprockets. Installing new chains is a great idea. Sprockets definately wear out faster with old stretched chains. One more thing: Please install quality American made chain. I know I'm biased, but American chain is better than most foreign chain. The only exception is Japanese. However, let's support the good old U.S.A.! Steve
