I want to sell the original Ferguson 2 bottom plow that came with my 8n. It is tight, with some surface rust, but in nice shape and works well. Is it worth more the way it is or taken apart, blasted, painted, and rebuilt?

All depends on the buyer, some people have a need to see things all gussied up, others like myself steer away from a Dupont overhaul. The times when I spend more than a glance on something repainted I go over it with a fine tooth comb looking for what was covered up. This is mainly true for running equipment, for implements and such I suppose it doesn't really matter, but I do inspect stress areas and cutting edges for Bondo and repairs. When I go to sell a tractor or implement having a complete set of manuals seems to help close the sale more than it looking pretty. Just curious, is yours a Model 55 roll-over?

Probably depends on the buyer.

I personally would rather buy something a little rusty and do the job myself than buy somebody else's cover-up. Not saying you wouldn't do a good job, but it seems like most of the paint jobs I see on older equipment are done to hide faults and get more money than the equipment is worth.

I generally pass on equipment that looks like it has been painted just to hide things.
