Two years ago, I was looking for a manure spreader of about that size, too. Looked and looked, saw some very nice new ones. But I decided none of the newly-built ones were worth all the money dealers were asking.

So I kept an eye in the papers and found a 40-year-old but still like-new New Idea for $700. It is built well, was cheap, and also has the "class" that all old tools seem to have.

I don't regret my decision--buy a good used one.

Belive it or not Case IH makes or sells a good one,we would use them to spread yard waste with sometimes 40-50 loads a day and in a summer we used them more than any dariy farmer would even think of and they never missed a beat. And they even had 3foot side boards and they would even handle being loaded heavy with green wet grass and have held up well.
