Well my 50.00 dollar baler worked well until my son tripped the bale size lever and did not have enough rpm to turn over the baler fly wheel ( he tried to bale some damp straw). We spun the flywheel backwards by hand to get some momentom when the pto was applied, what a noise when the plunger hit the plunger stop for the needels. Managed to reset the trip lever and checked out the opperation, heard some clicking noise every time the plunger stoked, figured it was the plunger stop rubbing the plunger (thought it bent some thing in the plunger stop mechanizium). We baled up the rest of the straw, about 30 bales and notice the that the noise was getting louder. Upon closer inspection, it was noticed that the bearing on the connecting rod (gear box) to the plunger had failed, just the inner and outside races were left. My question is how is that bearing replaced. I donn't want to loosen up the chain drive on the other side, opposit the main gear drive as my baler timing may be affected if the chain slipps on the sprocket. Any help would be apprecated. Thanks John

If the plunger hit the plunger stops, its already out of time. The plunger stops are only inserted when the needles are coming up. You need to time it anyway. Timing is covered in the owner's manual. I sold my MF-12 a year ago and included all the manuals with it so I can't look. I had not trouble in 1988 of buying a print of the owner's manual and a parts book from MF, though today they will probably cost as much as you paid for the baler which until its broken is worth a bit more than you paid.

My baler is stored for the winter but if I understand you correctly, it is a piece of cake.
The new bearing from the dealer just "rotates" into place. A real easy, slick design that is apparent once you have the new bearing in your hand
