I recently bought an Oliver 2 bottom hydraulic lift plow. Wil it function with a single acting cylinder or is a double acting cylinder required? All pictures I see shows two hoses.

On a pull type plow- it is power up, gravity down. The cylinder is used only to lift the plow. Weight of the plow lowers it, and suck of the shares pulls it into the ground. Two-way cylinders are ok- often the only one the farmer has, but one-ways are all that is needed. Same with field cultivators and discs. On a disk, a two-way will lift the wheels off the ground and add that weight to the machine, which may help get a better cut.

I think a single acting cylinder should work just fine.
