I bought a MF 3 baler that had been sitting outside for 2 years. Seems that the prior owner took relatively good care of it (ie, greasing, lubrication, cleaning etc) except for leaving it outside exposed to the weather. He said that it still worked great the last time he used it. He's quit using it because someone offered to bale up his farm in round bales and give him what he needed for in exchange for the difference.
Now to the problem, the baler does everything as designed, however the hook fingers will not release the knots for the prior bale that it tied.
How do I make it release the knots. The knots keep getting hung up and as the bale moves as the new bale is growing, the twine eventually breaks.
what can i do to correct this problem?

Did you get you MF 3 baler working properly. I am considering one that has been sitting awhile and wondered about its value. Any ideas

Before you go too far, you should clean rust out of all parts of the knotter unit, along with any accumulation of grease, dust and dirt. Make sure that all parts move properly. Lubricate all fittings, and if you find wear on the brass ball shaped bearings that run on the geared wheels, they should be repaired/replaced.

Could be bad bill hooks, when they go bad they tend to not let go of the knot.

I have a #3 MF it was doing the same thing on one sided. I took the hook out and cleaned it, that didn"t seem to help much. then i read on here to check the stripper arm clearance, it was about an inch away. the only way i could see to make it closer was to bend it, I was afraid it might break but i had to do something it was useless the way it was and i do have a parts baler, so i bent it closer with a hammer and readjusted the knife. i"ve baled over 700 bales since them without a miss.

Not sure about your baler but since most knotters are about the same there should be a wiper that pulls the knot off the billhook.Check to see that it rubs tight enough across the hook to wipe the twine off. Also could be wrong twine.
