What the heck are all the snow questions on the board here? It hasn't snowed in Houston for 15 years. Somebody should give mosquito fogger info.
Thanks
JJ

We had our first snow last week. It was gone by 3 pm same day. We usaually have snow on the ground for good by December 1 till maybe the second week of April. One year on May 8 my Dad got lost in a snowstorm while seeding barley in a field he had worked for 30 years. Snow equipment is one of the most important things you get after your first tractor if you want to move for 5 months of the year. We usually get a real hoot out of watching the city dudes slide off the road in their Cherokees on their way to the ski hills. We call it the Charge of the Slope Dopes. Tom

Living in Vancouver we don't get much snow and what we do get doesn't last on the roads any longer than 1 day, but you are right the people with the 4 wheel drives seem to think they can go 20 to 30 km faster than safe and every 200 feet along the freeway they are sitting as the rest of us go on past. Wonder why insurance is high, we have to pay for the dopes.

Anybody who buys a Jeep has to be a yuppie. Almost as bad as them who buy Beemers or the like. You have to feel sorry for them sometimes. Went into the store for a coffee once and there's four of them off the road, looking for help and absolutely appalled that there was no half-calf latte around and absolutely amazed that people wore shoes and spoke in sentences. Stuffed them all into the Blue Tragedy(76 4x4) back to stricken Jeep and forked them out of the bank. 6 minutes with a shovel and a good push would have had them but the 40 bucks was nice. Tom

You need to try living in northern Minnesota. In the summer the mosquitoes are sometime refueled at the airport by mistake, and in the winter an 8 hp snowblower is where the conversation starts.

I think it was 73 or so when I got up. Sure glad I fixed my pickup's a/c. We're still baling hay. Is it frosty up there yet?

Actually we moved back to the middle of Ohio some years back, having spent 6 years outside Duluth. It was in the 60's with rain here this weekend.

But the first winter we spent up in Minn it snowed 8 inches Oct 1. When some friends' kids built a snowman on the north side of the house over Thanksgiving, the thing stayed there until Easter.

I had grown up in the middle of Wisconsin and thought I knew about winter, but I was wrong.
