JD 1518 Batwing cutter (broken wing hinge pin)

I have a 1518 that has a broken wing hinge pin. I have the wing blocked up and trying to remove the first pin to get to the one broken. Anyone have any experience driving these pins out???

They are in the pivot area and can"t get a big enough hammer down there to free them.

You might want to talk to your JD dealer, I think they may have had an update for the wing pivot's on one of their older batwings but I'm not sure on the details.

Thanks for the lead. I actually hope there is a tech bulletin on it. I can't imagine why they did't provide a way to grease the pins.

I got the wing off today and 1/2 of one pin out. Took a lot of heat and a lot of banging! Turns out two of the pins were twisted apart! I ended up using a hacksaw blade to cut the only good pin in half. I know one was broken when I bought the cutter I guess I broke the other. The pins are just under 1" solid stock. They appear to rust in the tubes and the twisting of raising and lowering shears the pin. I think grease fittings can be drilled and tapped from the under side. I'll check with my dealer as you suggested.

If they rust that tight, you can imagine how hard it is to drive them out! I guess I need a bigger air hammer, the little thing I got just doesn't have the guts!
