Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help me out on the colour of a Frost & Wood mower? The local farm museum is restoring a #10A Frost & Wood mower built in Smith's Falls, Ontario, Canada. We have an approximate idea of the paint colours but if anyone knows the paint codes that would be very much appreciated. Thanks, SAm in NS

We were looking at the 10A out in the woods , on Tues. . Some paint still there. Yellow wheels and green body. Not john deere shades. Some of the older gents in the area believe the yellow was dull as was the green. Close to old Massey Harris colors? Good Luck!

Kent: I didn't like to say earlier as I was not sure, but I seem to remember a very pale green, I guess what you would call lime green. We had a manure spreader at home, tractor spreader, and the colors were Cockshutt 30 orange and yellow, but it was decaled as a Frost and Wood spreader. There were newer versions of same spreader in community with Cockshutt decals. I forget the model number but this spreader put a lot of weight on drawbar.

I have an old seeder (vegetable seed) two row, designed for one horse, flared rollers on front and flat rollers behind. Seed metering is a rolling drum. This machine was around our farm long before I was born in 42. I've always suspected this seeder was Frost and Wood or at least built for them. It also has traces of that pale green paint. I say this as most of the pre war equipment on our farm came either from Frost and Wood or Massey Harris.

Well, I must say the green paint's an interesting development. I dragged it out from the back of a barn with my tractor and dissasembled it because the person restoring it is doing it in their basement. When I took the tongue off it there was a fair amout of red paint in there so the thought it might have been green is interesting. Thanks, SAm in NS

Sam, there was a discussion on this a while ago with Kent. Someone said green with yellow wheels. I have a Frost & Wodd Giant 8. The wheels were yellow or cream colour. I will remove a guard and see if I can find a colour. I did this before and thought it was red but I will check it again.

Sam: I don't have the answer but can put you onto guys near you that would know. Wayne Cameron, Truro, Cameron Equipment; John Higgins, Truro, NS or John Dechman Up Musq. Dechman would have sold Frost & Wood as a dealer. Both he and Cameron were Cockshutt Dealers. Cameron probably not old enough to have ever sold Frost & Wood. Cameron probably has parts books and other literature as he is still quite active in selling parts for old Cockshutt and Oliver equipment.

We had Frost & Wood equipment on our farm that was pre war time, but most of the paint was gone by my time.
