What does the power divider on a NH 824 two-row corn head do?

JA, that is a tremendous question. I have worked on New Holland corn heads since before they ever had dividers. I have seen heads working very well without the divider even turning. However, having said all this, it is supposed to help bring in that outer row to the feedrolls. But again, I've seen the drive chain off of many heads and they work just as well. Steve

Thanks, Steve. I bet you're right about them working just as well without. That's why I had to ask, it just looks like it sits there and spins just for the fun of it.
