After looking at many rotary cutters/brush hogs,(walco, midwest, befco, bush hog,)I think I have settled on the woods brush bull.I have a massey ferg.1240 sub-compact 4X4.I believe it is 28 HP.I am going to buy the 4 ft. model Brush bull.I don,t think my tractor will handle the 5 ft.model.Thanks for any input.coobie

You didn't say what you would be cutting, but unless it's really thick and tall, i think your Massey will handle a 5 footer.

For tough cutting, just go slow, and/or don't take a full 5' cut.

My experience has been, that a 30hp compact will NOT handle as big of tools or sustained load as will a 30hp bigger (heavier) utility farm tractor.

My TO-30 can handle 5 footer at 27 HP so I believe you tractor can too. If you have pretty flat land you might be able to handle 6 foot, but weight and balance can be a problem with the six footers.
