I have been thinking about buying my own seeding equipment, but don't think I can justify the expense. Pay custom operator now, but have to work around his schedule( when he is done , I get done). I only do 15-20 acres every few years, but seems to be struggle to get everything co-ordinated.Any thoughts are appreciated. Oh yes, which piece of equipment is better, drill or Brillion?

And I don't think the new forum preview is very user-friendly! This is a good system, please don't change.

I purchased a basic 12' Brillion seeder about 14 years ago. I seed between 10 and 30 acres yearly and do some custom jobs. I love the job it does in seeding. The only problem I have is getting rid of the tractor tire tracks, even with the optional track remover kit, (old style spring teeth). I have tried several tractors to pull the seeder with, but can not seem to get that picture perfect look!!! Still the seeder is better than any grain drill and packer method I have ever used previous. I believe the cost of new units is to high to justify on small acers, but you may get lucky and find a used one at an auction. There is not to much to go wrong with them that can not be fixed on the farm.

Thanks Larry. Our custom man has both, but does not like to get the Brillion 3pth out of the shed. It did a real smooth job. His IH drill with Brillion packer did not make as nice of a job ,but did finish a half hour earlier.
