Adam: Just a hunch, by chance are you thinking about a device that looked like a plow beam, but was called a subsoiler. Some of them had about 3-4 links of heavy chain and pulled a tapered steel bullet like or perhaps more like the old quart beer or soda bottle by the neck. The idea was to leave a round tunnel through soil at 18" or whatever depth desired. These were often about 4" in diameter, and were thought to improve drainage.

Your spelling is what sent me on this line of thinking as they often refered to these tunnels as mole tunnels. The term for moldboard plow is spelled just that way.

bob, thank you for your replies. no, we don't have any moles here.( think it may be to hot for them)the picture you posted may be the critter i am looking for. the mole board my uncle described would bring the soil from about 1.5 ft. down to the top. then you could use a 3pt. roto tiller to work the good stuff into better stuff.

thanks

I kind of suspected that. Just for the record, the curved part of the plow bottom is called the MOLDboard.

Are you talking about a 1-bottom 3-point hitch plow, or a "middle buster", or something to whack moles with???

3-point 1 bottom plow:
