Baled with my NH850 today. Bales real good. I realize what you mean by " It will bale any thing"
It just sucks the hay in.
I ran my Farmall 460 on it. Worked ok, but it for sure is not enough tractor for it. She was grunting good. But can make hay.

Them 850's are good balers. Personally, I preferred the 852. Never have owned a baler, but have worked on a few New Holland products when I worked for a company store prior to joining the military back in the early '80s. Keep an eye on those chains, and agree with what also has been said about keeping the baler lubricated. When you have to repair the chains, be sure to tie them off REAL GOOD.

later days mate,
Jim

Those are great balers. I pull mine with a 4020 and it does great. If you don't have a manual I would get one. There are two grease fittings accessed by a hole in the top of the pickup on each far side just prior to the hay reaching the floor chains. They are kind of hard to see. I agree, a little grease and oil will help out alot on these things. Also, inspect the apron chain regularly for wear and weak spots at the links. It is a pain to fix if the chain get wrapped around everything! Take care.

Yep a NH 850 will make a tractor work for its pay so to speak. Thats why I have a 450 farmall for sale its just not enough tractor for that baler. Mine makes them very tight and also just about all my 801 ford with loader wants to pick up. Found that an Oliver super 88 will run it better then the farmall. Have fun with it but remember $1 worth of grease will save you $500 worth of repair lol
