Drilling Grass Seed w/o Attachment

I recently bought an IH 5100 grain drill without grass seed attachment-thinking I could still get one.

Unfortunately IH only carries it as parts and it will cost more than the drill by the time I put the 40 different parts together to make it work.

All I really need to seed is some waterways and yard of a new house. Can I put ducttape or something over the openers to make a smaller opening or use the fertilizer openings or something to get this thing to drill grass?

BTW: If anyone knows where I could get a new or used grass attachment I would be interested.

Some older drills, like the MM line, could seed grass/alfalfa in the main box if the gears were set in low range, vs. high or normal range for oats, etc. But the advice from Coloken would still apply- the smaller seeds will separate out and feed first. A 5100 is a pretty new drill, and I don't know if it has gear options.

Many times I have drilled small seeds like grass or alfalfa by mixing it in with some thing like oats. Only fill the box a litle way up and stop and remix it with your hand every once in a while, cause it will bounce and seperate. Big, bulky seed that is not clean needs some one riding on the drill making sure they don't bridge over the holes.
