International #27 Square Baler ????

Seen there is an IH #27 at the implement dealer in town pretty decent shape i was wondering if you guys have any input about these balers??? someone told me there kinda hard to find???? They want $500 for it but its been sitting there for quite a while now i was thinking of going in and low balling them a price...it looks to be a good baler. I figure i can use it as a back up baler or something i have a case baler but maybe this is better then my case

I had one I bought for $200.00 over 20 years ago. Like this one you're thinking of buying, Mine hadn't seen much work. I got it cheap because it wouldn't tie. I ordered a manual as I still do when I get another baler. All I had to do was time it, and I remember baling all summer with it, and selling it for $500.00. I can tell you this baler is not designed for commercial use, it was designed for the small acreage hayman so he would not have to buy an expensive unit or be at the mercy of his neighbors when his hay needed baling. It should be under a shelter, and no hay in the chamber with oil on everything when you're not using it. If you get it for $500.00 or less, and need a baler, I would not think twice.

I was never totally impressed with them but they worked alright and for that kind of money seems alright to me. If it is a machine that has been cared for it shouldnt give you much trouble

My nieghbor has one.
The packer fork system runs off a cable and the packer forks themselves are plastic. We broke the cable and CNH wants more than a hundred dollars for 20 feet of 1/4 inch cable.

You'd be better off with a NH.

Yeah i have a old NH 68 laying in my trees i got for free from the neighbor....She is kinda rough shape but i always hoped to find another good one...I cant complain about my Case 220 its been a very good baler i also have a 230 case for parts but i never needed to take anything off it yet. I was wondering about the IH 27 cause it is so nice looks like it was really taken care of and i think i could get it from maybe around $200

In my neck of the woods, you're lucky to get a non-running baler of ANY brand and age for less than $500. If you can swing the $$$, you might have a deal on your hands at $200.
